The production process

Design studio

At the moment there are 11 employees working in the creative design studio to produce around 400 new designs per year for our two ranges of products: furnishing fabrics and drapes. Using the latest software, they transfer the designs they have drawn to the computer monitor so that they can later be woven on the Jacquard looms. The colouring of the is done directly at the loom. The designers must recognize and react to the various demands of every possible market. Besides continually developing new patterns for Munzert's own collection, they co-operate closely with our customers to reflect and realize their wishes and ideas.

Warping

Warping is the first step in the actual production process. Here the warps are made, through which the weft threads are then inserted on the loom to create the material. To make such warps, between 360 and 720 spools of yarn are needed. Next, the finished warp is put into the machine on a warp beam. In order to keep production flexible, it is necessary to store finished warps for use at any time. At the moment there are about 200 warps in stock.

Weaving

Nowadays only the Jacquard method is used. Every week approximately 35 000 metres of material are woven on 66 looms. Fierce international competition makes it necessary to keep production absolutely up to date, which means regularly investing in new and improved equipment.
Having come off the loom, the material is subjected to an in-house quality control before being sent to specialized local finishers.

Storage

Munzert produces exclusively according to the customer's orders. After the material has been suitably finished, it is stored until it can be delivered to the customer.
Every single metre of fabric which leaves the firm is produced here. Our location in Bavaria's Upper Franconia one of the few still remaining centres of the textile industry in Europe is a major factor that guaranteeing the success of the company. We produce quality textiles - MADE IN GERMANY.
