Our environmentally friendly ethos begins with care for the nature around us and permeates through the creative process to actuate how and what we make. To support this philosophy, our product and inherently, our methods of production, are environmentally friendly. We strove to create a holistic manufacturing system, which is entirely green throughout processes: from the generation of the fibre, to the spinning, the waving and the finishing. We consider the consistency of quality, in both the system and the product, to be of equal importance.
By deconstructing the manufacturing phase we can identify the working parts. As aforementioned, it is necessary that all stages in the manufacturing process be as green as possible. For instance, quite frequently harmful pesticides are used while growing cotton. These pesticides are washed out during the dying process and are not traceable on the finished product. Other manufactures may find it convenient to overlook or ignore such issues. However, at Munzert, it is our philosophy to avoid harmful chemicals altogether. The miss and the finisher are a major part of the productions process, while the other essential part of production is the fibre.
All of our suppliers and finishers are certified according to Ökotex Standard 100. This Standard proves that the material does not contain any harmful substances (like Amine or Formaldehyde). The finishers are also certified according to ISO 9002 and the European ecological audit, which identifies: no solvents are used, energy consumption is minimized, and the outgoing air and wastewater loads are very low.
All of our products are high quality and very durable! Even our fabrics woven from chemical fibres use constructions, that enable them to be eco-friendly in the end. For instance our Polyester fabrics have their ecological advantages: easy care high stability, long durability, and the fact that they are recyclable. Polyester fibres do not cause skin irritation or allergies to the user and are indifferent to the stresses of environmental fluctuation. Plus, the Polyester fibre is low water absorbing which means that less water and cleaning chemicals and above all substantially less energy is required in production and maintenance.
We take pre-emptive measures to be as eco-friendly as possible by not wasting power or raw material. All paper, glass, metal, seconds, yarn leftover, and oil are being collected separately and recycled with certified partners. We save energy due to low energy consuming technologies. An Electronic system ensures that all lights shut down immediately after the last employee leaves the office, while the hat supply is simultaneously reduced. Which advanced blinds outside, and appropriate insulation integrated into the structure of the building, we save warmth during the wintertime and keep the heat out during summertime. We even have a natural cooling system in our ceiling, which harnesses the cold temperatures in our subsurface sprinkler basin, to cool the interior air during summer time. Gebr. Munzert is using solar energy for our heating and rainwater for our bathrooms. So we are indeed, a very clean and green operating company, with a commitment to waste reduction, renewable energy, and the elimination of toxic substances.
